About This Place

Located conveniently at 2600 Telegraph Ave in Oakland, Gogi Time offers an authentic Korean barbecue experience that invigorates both the palate and the spirit. This vibrant eatery specializes in Korean barbecue, where diners engage in the fun and interactive tradition of cooking their own meat on spacious rectangular grills—a thoughtful twist from the typical circular setups, allowing everyone at the table to participate effortlessly.

The menu at Gogi Time is a delicious deep dive into Korea’s rich culinary heritage. Highlights include the tender and marinated La Galbi Short Ribs, bursting with savory layers from the meticulous LA-style marinade, and the delectably crisp yet fluffy Kimchi Pancake that delivers a perfect balance of tangy spice and comfort. The Spicy Pork tantalizes with just the right kick, while the Tofu Dolsot Bibimbap offers a harmonious mix of textures and flavors enhanced by the sizzling stone bowl.

For those craving warming and hearty dishes, Gogi Time’s soups and stews command attention—the Spicy Shredded Beef Soup (Yuk Gae Jang) brings a fiery depth paired with silky glass noodles, while the Beef Shortrib Soup (Galbi Tang) wraps you in a rich and soothing broth, perfect to complement the grill-centric feast. Their carefully curated side dishes like Banchan Sets and classic Kimchi weightlessly bridge each bite, offering bursts of bright, fermented acidity.

Beyond the food, the atmosphere at Gogi Time is notably inviting and vibrant—echoing the spirit of a communal feast where friends and families gather around the grill, laugh, and share stories as they cook. The staff’s warm, attentive service enhances the experience, with multiple reviews highlighting the exceptional attentiveness and friendliness of servers like Tyler and Tanya, who ensure every guest feels personally cared for.

One cannot help but notice the joyful energy from guests who immerse themselves in the DIY grill experience. As Jacob Gonzalez recounts, the ability to cook your own short ribs, kimchi pancakes, and a generous array of meats and seafood elevates the meal to something interactive and engaging—not merely dinner, but a lively event. G Lee praises the thoughtful design of the cooking grills and the promptness of service, making the dining smooth and hassle-free despite the hands-on style. Meanwhile, Christina Corona’s nod to the refreshingly unique peach lemonade highlights Gogi Time’s clever beverage offerings that perfectly complement the bold flavors of the cuisine.

Whether you are a Korean barbecue aficionado or trying it for the first time, Gogi Time in Oakland delivers an experience that is flavorful, social, and deeply satisfying. The carefully prepared dishes, from juicy BBQ chicken glazed with house-made sauces to the crispy golden garlic fries and savory Gogi Wings, make each visit feel special. Just as every review says, this place is awesome! I love Korean BBQ and it’s all you can eat, Need I say more! You do cook the food yourself which is just a fun experience with everyone. The short ribs and the kimchi pancakes were probably my favorite thing we got. We also got the garlic pork belly, shrimp, brisket, sirloin.. pretty much everything on the menu. Everything was fantastic. The service was amazing as well. We never felt like we were missing food or was waiting for more. They also come around change out your burner top so it’s always clean. If you really need convincing and your not just sure. Just walk in front of the building and you’ll be convinced by the amazing aroma of Korean BBQ food!

Wasn’t sure what to expect because hadn’t had Korean BBQ in this area, but it turned out a great experience. First thing I noticed is they’re very nice. Very welcoming. That sets the tone. Next thing I noticed is they have a fairly large rectangular grill which is better than the circles I usually see. And they are fast about changing the grill expeditiously as it gets gunked up with the sauces. It’s spacious and yet urban nice inside. Perhaps a little dark but different strokes for different folks. We were in the side room which was darker. About $40 for the all you can eat, which I would recommend. You get two appetizers and four meats at a time. Also can get a couple sides and/or veggies. Good selection of meats. And the meats are GOOD portion size. And good thickness. Excellent soup and sides. Specifically the tofu soup. Softener kinds of rice. All goodness. You will leave here full of you get the all you can eat. Parking lot is a little odd. Slotted, angled spaces; so you need to back out to the street to exit. But at least they have a posting lot at all! Better than street parking.

We had a blast and the food was so delicious it was hard not to let my eyes be bigger than my stomach! Grill was changed out consistently and there were plenty of options on the All You Can Eat Menu. The playlist of music being played was the perfect addition to the good time we were having. I would totally recommend this place for the food experience, it's not the fanciest or trendiest on the inside but we still had a blast and left more full than on Thanksgiving lol.
